Located in Wake County, Knightdale is a quaint town that had a population of just 11,400 as of the 2010 Census.

Still, this community has the distinction of being the second-fastest growing community in the Research Triangle region, at least for the 2010-12 time period.

This community has a long history that dates back to at least 1700 when the Lords Proprietor of the Carolina Colony hired John Lawson to explore the area.

This community was initially settled in 1730, when John Hinton came to the area, mostly attracted by its proximity near the Neuse River.

Knightdale continued to evolve throughout the decades. However, it wasn’t until the development of a railroad and depot in the area that growth really took off.

The community received its articles of official incorporation from the North Carolina Legislature on March 9, 1927.
